Throughout the month of November Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways has been collaborating with Summit Federal Credit Union on our annual PJ Round Up. The PJ Round up is a time when girls collect and donate pajamas, robes, and slippers for women and children living in area shelters.
The event kicked off with a special showing of Alvin and the Chipmunks, Chipwrecked, where nearly 100 girls participated by bringing a donation. Several service units have held local events collecting donations as well. So far this year over 200 girls have participated in some way.
Collected items can be dropped off at any Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways location or any Summit location. There is still time to donate and we are especially in need of clothing in women’s’ sizes. Donations will be accepted through the end of next week and we’ll be sorting items on December 8th. The agencies that work directly with the women and children who will benefit from the pajamas will pick up the items on December 11th.
Girls can earn a special patch for participating in this annual community service project. For more information, please visit the council website at www.gsnypenn.org
