Are you looking for some fun activities for the girls in your troop over the summer? Here are three:
A Taste of Camp, Spencer – Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings, July 15–17, 2013, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each evening, Nichols Park, 40 West Tioga Street, Spencer NY 14883, (Tioga County). Open to girls in grades K-5. If you want to know what Girl Scouts is all about but never got a chance to join, this program is for you! Make a necklace and bandana, play games, make and eat camp snacks, and get a taste of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience!
Gardening for Wildlife – Summer is a great time to get outdoors and garden! Visit a Backyard Wildlife Habitat Garden in the park and “meet” some of the local wildlife that make the garden their home. Plant your own butterfly container garden and make a wildlife critter hut to take home. Open to all girls K-12
Mountaintop Mass on Mt. Jo – Mt. Jo Trailhead Parking Lot, 1002 Adirondack Loj Road, Lake Placid, NY, (Essex County). Scouts of all faiths are invited to take part in this relatively easy three mile round trip hike. The route will take you to an open summit and several overlooks with great views of a lake and the High Peaks. Bring your lunch, water, and hiking gear. No registration is necessary for this event.
