Three things for Thursday

icantwaitGirl Scouts encourages girls to become knowledgeable about the world around them. One way we recognize this knowledge is by awarding girls with badges. There are badges for every grade level in Girl Scouting. If you are interested in attending a program where girls in your troop can earn part, or all, of a badge, check these out;

Smile! – Wednesday, November 20, 4:00-4:45pm, Smiles with Style, 1203 Waterloo-Geneva Road,  Waterloo, NY, 13165, (Seneca County). Open to Girl Scouts in grades K–5, adults, and non-registered girls Explore the workings of a orthodontics office. Watch a video about dental health and hygiene. Learn the proper way to brush your teeth, experience the panoramic x-ray machine and treatment chairs, and find out what orthodontists can do for you. Enjoy a snack and juice box during a question and answer session. Receive an activity book, a pencil, and a toothbrush. By completing this program, you earn the “My Best Self” badge

Interesting Inventions – Saturday, November 16, 10am-noon, Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main Street, Owego, NY, 13827, (Tioga County). Open to Girl Scouts in grades 2–3 Put on your inventor’s cap and create some truly fun inventions while you learn how inventions have shaped and changed our world! Work with other girls using LEGO® bricks and motors to make an “Interesting Invention”, then create your own invention. You will earn and receive the Brownie Inventor Badge plus a Bricks 4Kidz® tattoo and pencil.

Animal Habitats – Saturday, April 26, 2014 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Rogers Environmental Education Center, 2721 NY Route 80, Sherburne, NY, 13460, (Chenango County). Open to Girl Scouts in grades 4–5 Learn more about wild animals and how to protect their homes. Investigate an animal habitat. Create an animal house. Explore endangered habitats. Help protect animal habitats. At the end of this program, you will receive an Animal Habitats badge. Bring a mid-morning snack; a bagged lunch is optional.
