Adopting a family in your community – many service units take part in this community service project at holiday time. The service unit adopts one or more families in need and girls in all of the troops collect food, household items, clothing, and toys for any children. You could check with a local food pantry in the area for families to adopt.
Holding a toy drive – Troops and girls could collect toys to be donated to the Toys for tots program or any local program that collects and distribute toys to families in the community.
Putting together holiday food baskets – girls could bake pies, collect non-perishable food item, or toiletries for holiday baskets given out at local food pantries.
Girl Scouting strives to teach girls how to make the world a better place. These are three ways to help others. What are some community service projects your troop has taken part in?
