A young Girl Scout puts a special touch on to a Valentine’s Day card for a resident. She shows it to the leaders, proud of her design. Girls of all ages came to the Chemung County Nursing Facility with their bags of Valentine’s Day cards to hand out to the residents on Thursday, February 6. This is the second time that the Girl Scouts from Troops 40026 and 41406 passed out Valentine’s Day cards to the residents. The girls and their leaders have “adopted” this nursing home to be considerate and caring to the residents that appreciate the extra joy a card from a young girl can bring to their eyes.
It is so easy to get caught up with Cookie season in full swing now for girls in our troops that this was a fun event to do for these residents. A few of the residents’ families were there, surprised to see quite a small army of Girl Scouts, ranging from kindergarten to 10th grade. Each girl wanted to make sure that no one was forgotten. We even got some inquiries from the nursing staff about cookie sales!
Our next goal is to maybe do something with them for Easter and/or Spring. We might also give them a few boxes of Girl Scout cookies to enjoy.
With all of the cold and snowy weather we have had here in New York, I hope that this little story warmed your hearts. Don’t forget to spread the love and joy to everyone, whether it is during a holiday season or just on a warm spring day!
