Susquehanna River Raiders – Competitive canoe racing team, Sunday, September 14, 1:30-4pm, Amahami Outdoor Center, 434 Page Pond Road, Deposit, NY 13754, (Broome County). Open to Girl Scouts age 11 or older by May 1, 2015. Be part of a winning team!! Learn canoeing skills that last a lifetime. Get pointers from professional racers. Have fun as you learn to “read the river.” If you are looking for a competitive canoe racing experience, the “River Raiders” is the team to join! Have your name on the race roster for the General Clinton Canoe Regatta 2015!
Equipment to bring on September 14th: Wet shoes or old sneakers, clothing appropriate for the weather, complete change of clothing including footwear, hat, rain gear, gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, glasses strap, and a plastic water bottle. Bring a whistle, life jacket and paddle if you have them.
I love cats and dogs – Saturday, September 27, 1-3pm, Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 East River Road, Waterloo, NY 13165, (Seneca County). Open to Girl Scouts in grades 2–8 and adults. Help out at the shelter by walking, grooming, and helping to care for the adoptable animals! Meet the adoptable cats and dogs and learn their stories—how did they end up at the shelter? Learn other ways you can help your community animals and rescues as well. An Animal Shelter patch is included in the program fee.
Crime scene investigations – Saturday, October 25, 3-5pm, Roberson Museum and Science Center, 30 Front Street, Binghamton, NY 13905, (Broome County). Open to Girl Scouts in grades 4–12. Who stole Halloween? Use science experiments, secret languages, and fingerprinting to find out! Junior Girl Scouts will earn a Detective badge; Cadettes will earn the Special Agent badge at this fun-filled program. All other Girl Scouts will receive a CSI fun patch. Badges and patches are included in the program fee.
