Did you know that Girl Scouts of the USA offers short-term travel opportunities for Girl Scout troops or groups? Whether you want to travel to a large city, take part in an encampment, or see a Broadway show – there may be a getaway that is right for you!
Here are a selection of just a few of the Getaways available to Girl Scouts:
- Washington, D.C. Winter Adventure Getaway – it’s the ultimate American experience where you’ll see the monuments, tour the museums, see where government takes action, and experience some of the District’s famous neighborhoods, while learning to navigate the public transit system. - Portland, Oregon – explore the art, culture, and nature blooming in the City of Roses. You’ll see the nation’s smallest city park, discover the dark history of the Shanghai Slave Trade in an underground walking tour, find yourself in an authentic Ming Dynasty Suzhou-style Chinese Garden, and get lost in the world’s largest independently owned bookstore. - New York, New York Urban Adventure – explore the city that never sleeps. From museums to theaters, skyscrapers to historic neighborhoods, New York City has it all. Find details here.
- Nantucket: Star of the Sea Hostel – stay beachside at HI-Nantucket, the Star of the Sea Hostel, and explore the island by bicycle and kayak. The hostel was constructed in 1874 as a surf lifesaving station, and much of the original construction remains. You’ll explore the history of the hostel as well as explore the island and enjoy some serious beach time. Find details here.
