Cookie season has finally come for girls in Elmira, NY and they are excited to be selling the cookies Girl Scouts are known for. This past Saturday, we went to our local Lowe’s to sell extra cookies and gain some more skills with promoting Girl Scouts. The girls in my particular troop are Girl Scout Daisies so it is their first cookie season.
We had some that had already ordered cookies or bought cookies from another troop. That happens a lot. It is a good way to teach girls that not every single person will be a sale. The excitement on the girls’ faces though when they did get a customer was so touching. They would give the person the change after I gave it to them, hand them the cookies, thank them, and they were so excited!
Another customer had told one of the girls that he had already bought one but because she had tried so hard, he asked her what kind of cookie she liked. She told him she like Samoas. He gave me, the leader, money for one box and told her to share it with her friends. It was priceless.
The girls still did very well for their first booth of the season with selling boxes of cookies. The big success for these girls showed in the smiles on their faces and their customers could tell! Success is not always measured by just numbers, it’s measured by what’s in your heart.
