What does it feel like to be without a home? How does it feel to go hungry? What would it be like to have to live in a cardboard box? Area youth will learn about these and the Youth Homeless Experience from Friday, May 8 to Saturday, May 9 at 3579 Franklin Street in Auburn.
All local youth in grades 4-12 and adults are invited to attend this very powerful experience. You’ll learn about hunger and homelessness in our area as you build your own shelter for the night. You’ll hear from local community leaders and participate in activities focused on these issues. The event will end with an Oxfam Hunger Banquet breakfast.
The cost to attend is $5 per participant and a personal care item, non-perishable food item or clothing donation that will help out one of the following organizations: the Chapel House, the Rescue Mission, the United Way of Cayuga County, Community Action, and the Rotary Club. The deadline to register is Friday, April 24.
