Bridging

By Lisa Kaminski; Manager, Community Development

gold_awardSpring is a time of year when many troops and service units are planning and holding bridging ceremonies for girls in their area. Girls moving up to the next grade-level in Girl Scouting are bridging. Bridging ceremonies often include an opening, a flag ceremony, presentation of badges and awards earned throughout the year, and girls crossing a bridge to be welcomed  by girls, and troop leaders, from the next oldest grade level.

If you are planning a bridging ceremony, Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways has resources available to help! Check out the council website at http://www.gsnypenn.org for short and snappy training on bridging and ceremonies. Also visit the council Pinterest page for craft ideas, and as well as a general search on Pinterest for Girl Scout bridging ideas.

Have fun and recognize the girls for all the work they’ve done throughout the Girl Scout year
