Looking for some fun places to take the girls in your troop to? Maybe you didn’t even realize that all three are in the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways jurisdiction. Get out your safety activity checkpoints, do some girl planning, complete your troop travel agreement, and get on the road this summer to visit one of these three places:
Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame – GS NYPENN has an agreement with the National Baseball Hall of Fame for girls to earn a patch when making a visit. Complete the museum discovery tour which focuses on character traits and virtues and earn the fun patch! The activities to earn the patch were designed by a Girl Scout troop from Cooperstown, NY.
Herkimer Diamond Mines – Go and mine for diamonds. Herkimer Diamonds. There are area campgrounds to make it a weekend trip and they are offering a Girl Scout Jamboree this fall too! You can even learn how to make your diamonds into jewelry after you find them.
Watkins Glen Gorge – Take a hike through Watkins Glen state park gorge trail. Learn environmental history, see 200 foot cliffs and 19 waterfalls along the way!
You can find the troop travel agreement forms on the council website at http://www.gsnypenn.org
