Girl Scout Brownie Troop 30127 has made this a year of giving. They’ve donated not to one charity, but two over the last few months. Good job, girls!
In April, the Brownies collected hygiene products for people who lack basic necessities. The girls took in donations of tooth brushes, toothpaste, bars of soap, razors, floss, shampoo, and conditioner and created 100 bags to give out at the Salvation Army. Their leader, Chrissy Watson, said, “Seeing the girls be so kindhearted and non-judgmental was amazing. They were all so sweet and caring; making sure each person got plenty of supplies.” The girls were able to brighten the day for people in a tough situation and they realized how good it felt to give back. They were eager to help out again.
On May 22nd, the girls wanted to complete the Pets badge. They took a trip to the Broome County Humane Society, but rather than just visit and learn about the animals, they spent time collecting supplies from friends and family. They were able to donate food, cleaning supplies, and toys to help care for the animals in the shelter. Grateful for the girls’ generosity, the shelter taught them how to be responsible pet owners, how the shelter is run, and about the animals themselves including how to adopt them. The girls played with the kittens and met the dogs. Pets give such unconditional love, but it isn’t always returned. The girls were glad to have brought some happiness to fellow creatures in need.
Congratulations, girls, for living up to the Girl Scout Law and making the world a better place to live.
