Girl Scout Junior Troop 40315 worked on their Bronze Award this year, culminating in a final project honoring our military. The girls created a 10-foot planter bench and each made a decorative stepping stone for a contemplation garden at the Blue Star Canteen on the grounds of the Veterans’ Administration in Canandaigua, NY. The garden honors both U.S. veterans and active duty service personnel and is supported bythe Blue Star Mothers of America, New York Chapter #1. The girls planted two dwarf blue spruce trees in the planter bench, along with 72 annuals in the garden that they paid for themselves with the proceeds of a can drive held for that specific purpose. In beautifying the world around them, the girls created meaning within their community and beyond. Thank you for your great work, Troop 40315!
