GS_shorthand _ 75Are you getting ready to start your new troop? Or is your troop from last year returning and you’re getting ready with some fall plans? Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways has some tips and tricks for getting your troop year off to a great start!

The first four to six meetings troop meetings should focus on getting acquainted with each other and with Girl Scouts. Make sure to get all girls registered. Get to know one another. Make a troop agreement and troop “rules”. Learn about the Girl Scout Promise and Law, the Girl Scout motto, the quiet sign, and finding out what the girls are interested in doing throughout the year.

Some other ideas include; assembling a first aid kit, planning an investiture and rededication ceremony, and making plans for future meetings.

There are lots of tips for helping ensure that your troops run smoothly. From holding regular parent meetings to communicate plans, to asking parents if they can donate supplies, to using a kaper chart, and participating in service unit events.

Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways is offering volunteers a chance to share their own tips and tricks with other volunteers from around the council during our fall regional kickoffs! So if you haven’t yet registered for one of them sign up now!

For registration for the fall regional kickoffs, as well as short and snappy training on tips and tricks, and many other topics, visit the council website at http://www.gsnypenn.org
