Build a Bluebird Box — Thursday, September 10, 6-8pm, Herkimer Home, 200 New York Route 169, Little Falls, NY 13365. (Herkimer County). Open to Girl Scouts in grades 4–8. Learn how to use some basic tools—swing a hammer, use a level, use a screwdriver, saw some wood— and build a home for our New York State Bird with this simple woodworking project. You will also learn about bluebirds and nest box management.
All’s Fair — Saturday, September 26, 10-11am, The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, 60 Morgan Road, Binghamton, NY, 13903. (Broome County). Open to Girl Scouts in grades K–1 and adults. Practice being Honest and Fair! Earn the Lupe Petal by playing Honest or Dishonest and other fun games. This program may take place outside in the Story Garden depending on the number of girls, the weather, and other factors. Please, no flip-flops! Rain date — Sunday, September 27.
Earn the Pets badge — Thursday, October 1st, 5;30-7pm, Chenango SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, NY, 13815. (Chenango County). Open to Girl Scouts in grades 2–3 and adults. Visit the Chenango SPCA shelter. Learn about the shelter and the animals that live there. Learn what care different pets need and how to keep a pet comfy and loved. Learn how to help a pet stay healthy and safe and learn about feeding a pet. Please bring an item from Chenango SPCA’s wish list to donate when you visit!
