Area Troop Donates To Food Pantry!

By: Kim Dunne, Media Manager

hunger1Girls from Troop 40752 heard about the hunger patch and decided it was something they wanted to work on. So the girls each planted their own gardens with the goal of growing vegetables and donating those veggies to T.A.C.O., a food pantry in Wysox, PA.

Hannah and Grace planted a garden with potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and zucchini. They donhunger2ated over 2,700 pounds of produce. They received help picking the potatoes by Delaney.

Kiernyn donated two dozen ears of corn, 10 pounds of potatoes, a bag of tomatoes, and eggplants.

Madison planted and donated potatoes; Allison planted cucumbers; Sophia planted and donated 100 pounds of cucumbers; and Hannah grew different vegetables and donated them.

hunger3Hannah and Grace then took a trip to the food pantry for a tour and to help stock the shelves with food that was donated and delivered and help to sort the food.

Way to go girls! Share what your girls are up to in their communities by e-mailing info and photos to kdunne@gsnypenn.org.
