Three things for Thursday

By Lisa Kaminski; Manager, Community Recruitment

microphoneLooking for program opportunities for older Girl Scouts. Here are three:

Snowshoeing at Comstock for Juniors and Cadettes — Saturday, January 30, 1-3pm. Spend the afternoon learning how to snowshoe, then play some outdoor winter games! Halfway through our excursion we’ll stop at Bailiwick to warm up by the fire and have some hot chocolate. Please dress warmly in layers and wear snow pants and winter boots. Snowshoes will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own as well.

Catch on to Cadettes — Saturday April 9, 9:30am-3:30pm. Get ready for fall and the challenges life in and outside of school may present. We offer several sessions to choose from. Morning: financing your teen years; cyber bullying; drug awareness; deciphering media advertising. Afternoon: painting; makeup; low ropes challenges; Zumba. Choose a topic from each group of sessions and plan on a day of fun.

Youth Homeless Experience – May 6-7, 5pm-9am. If you are a student in 2nd through 12th grades, join scouts and other local youth groups as each group builds its own shelter for the night. Learn about hunger and homelessness in our area from local community leaders. Participate in activities focusing around these issues. This event will end in the morning with an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet® breakfast. A new feature of this year’s meal affords you an opportunity to improve your “life status” by earning points.
