The Youth Homeless experience event weekend is coming up this spring and will be held in Auburn, NY. This event is open to all girls in grades 2-12 and offer the opportunity for girls to Discover things about a community issue that they may not have been aware of, Connect to other girls from around the council, as well as other organizations that help address finding solutions to youth homelessness, and then Take Action to work on trying to overcome this issue locally within their own communities.
Here are three things girls who take part in this program will get to do:
Working in groups girls will build their own shelter for the night.
Girls will have an opporutnity to talk with other organizations and find out steps they are taking to combat youth homelessness in the Auburn, NY area.
The morning will bring an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet which helps to teach about hunger and poverty.
