Girls Are Invited to Attend a Dynamic STEM Event

STEMDid you know that there are lots of exciting careers girls can have by studying science, technology, engineering, and math? Why not encourage your girls to attend a Tech Savvy event at Tompkins Cortland Community College on April 9?

At the day-long event girls in grades six through nine will participate in workshops like: Cycle for Science on the Sol Cycle; Code Cracking a Cell’s Supercode – All About DNA; Programming Lego Mindstrom Robots; and What’s Statistics Got to Do With M&M’s?

Girls can also choose to participate in savvy skills workshops like: How to Stay Smart and Safe on Social Media and Build a Savvy Future with Critical Thinking Skills.

There will also be a special session for parents and families that shows them how to help girls on their path college and a career.

The cost to attend is $5 and includes a light breakfast, lunch, a savvy girl t-shirt and bag. The deadline to register is April 4. Scholarships are available. For information about fee waivers, contact Sarah Johnson at SLJithaca@aol.com.
