Small Watercraft Safety Course – June 17 7pm-June 18 4pm — Amahami Adventure Center – Adults are invited to Amahami Adventure Center to earn their Small Watercraft Safety certification, which allows them the ability to take their troop boating at all Girl Scout camps with the accompaniment of a lifeguard! Participants must have some prior experience with canoeing and kayaking — meaning this course cannot be your first time entering a boat! Participants will also have to swim in a PFD as part of the course. Sleeping accommodations and breakfast and lunch on Saturday are included, as well as certified Red Cross Instructors and your three certifications.
Volunteer training – Archery – July 10 9am-2pm – Hoover Adventure Center — Registered adults and volunteers are invited to Hoover Adventure Center to participate in a Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Archery Course that will prepare them with all necessary skills to teach archery to Girl Scouts of all ages. Archery is now available at all four of our properties! You will be instructed by a NYS Sportsman Education instructor and receive both instruction time and practice time. Dress for the weather and bring your own lunch!
Simply Successful Camping – October 15 Noon – October 16 11am – Hoover Adventure Center – This is an overnight training session where participants learn to plan and facilitate a safe group Girl Scout camping experience in a lodge, cabin or tent. Topics include meal preparation and fire building. Prerequisite: Simply Successful Overnights or comparable legacy outdoor education course.
