Three Things for Thursday

Summertime is a great time to get out and bring the message of Girl Scouts to people in the community! Maybe you’ll be out and about with your family. Maybe your service team is working on recruiting new girls for troops for the fall. Here are three places you may not have thought about to share the message about joining Girl Scouts:

Libraries – Summer reading programs begin in just a few weeks and take place at many libraries across New York State. Check your local libraries calendar for program events geared toward school age children. If you happen to be attending an event, bring along some Girl Scout flyers, or parent brochures and talk to other parents attending and tell them what you love about volunteering for Girl Scouts!

Parks and pools – Hanging out at the playground or the community pool with your family or friends? Why not hang some Girl Scout posters? Or strike up a conversation with other adults there about Girl Scouts and all the fun your troop had this past year!

College campuses – College students head back to classes in mid-August. Maybe hold an information table during college student orientation or move-in weekend to talk about ways students could volunteer within your service unit.
