The Bronze Award is the highest achievement a Junior Girl Scout can receive. They earned it through work they did with Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, making catnip toys for the cats at the shelter.
Their services to the community extend beyond just one project, though. We spoke to Jen Clark, a Girl Scout leader with the troop, who shared her favorite community service moment: “My favorite community service moments are probably when we take the girls to visit the elderly to sing Christmas carols and Veterans Day to sing patriotic songs,” she wrote. “They sound so beautiful and the residents love seeing the girls.”
As for the girls in Troop 30549, Jen wrote, “Their favorite community service moments is probably baking and decorating cookies for our local Community Christmas Project that delivers food baskets to needy families at Christmas time. We have done this activity with them for 5 years now and have donated around 500 cookies each year!”
Keep up the great work!
We’re always looking to share stories about our girls and what they’re doing in and for their community. Send photos and info to email@example.com.
