Girls of action and adventure won’t want to miss these events. The crisp outdoors awaits, and as the foliage begins to turn there are more opportunities to sharpen skills you may have only just gotten a taste for at summer camp. Check out the full list:
Archery: Throughout the month of October, we have tons of opportunities available for our girls to learn archery. Let your arrow fly at the East Area Family YMCA, which is hosting a number of events. We have a number of dates and times for girls to take aim and learn what it takes to become a straight shooter. This program is open to Daises, Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes!
Outdoor Adventure: Fall is the best time to get outdoors, and we have a number of day camping and overnight adventures planned. For Brownies, the East Area YMCA will play host for an afternoon of playing capture the Flag, hiking, and more. Brownies will have another opportunity to spend a day at our Comstock Adventure Center exploring nature doing a scavenger hunt and learning essential camping skills!
Juniors will have a chance to enjoy an overnight camping experience at the East Area YMCA. Girls will learn how to build a campfire and cook a meal in foil over the fire, and trail bread on a stick for a treat, hike, sings songs, perform skits, and much more!
Letterboxing & Geo-Caching: We have letterboxing for the Brownies and geo-caching for the Juniors. Brownies will have a chance to spend the afternoon venturing around our Adventure Center in Ithaca. We will make our own stamps and practice solving clues before heading out to find all of the letterboxes at Comstock.
Juniors will have the chance to channel their inner explorer. Girls will get to spend the afternoon hiking around Comstock Adventure Center, learning how to use a GPS before going on a real-world treasure hunt!
